Make a contribution
All contributions to United Way are very much appreciated and are accepted year-round. Acknowledgement letters are sent for cash gifts of $250 or more automatically, and/or upon request. Gifts of cash, stock, art, collectibles, working automobiles, or other appreciated assets are welcome. Gifts of real estate are subject to United Way board approval. Memorial gifts and planned gifts are also encouraged.
Planned Giving
The United Way of the Klamath Basin accepts contributions in many forms including appreciated assets such as paintings, life insurance policies, annuities, IRAs, real estate, good working vehicles, and stock. The United Way is registered with DA Davidson to accept stock. Marcus Henderson, attorney-at-law, chairs the United Way planned giving program.
The United Way also encourages its loyal donors to list the United Way as one of your recipients in your will, charitable trust, or other planned giving tool/instrument.
Specific donor designated funds can also be established with as little as a $5,000 contribution. The earned income from your gift will be allocated to the social service area of the donor’s choice. Donors can restrict an area of social service they would like the United Way to support or leave it to the United Way board’s discretion.
For more information regarding estate planning, please contact your tax accountant, legal counsel, and Christine Hess at the United Way. A planned gift is a Gift that Keeps on Giving. The United Way of the Klamath Basin tax identification number is EIN #93-0441766.
Honor & Tribute Giving
The United Way also accepts Memorial Gifts of any size and will send the person you wish a special memorial card expressing your condolence and contribution to United Way on behalf of the deceased person.
The United Way received a gift of $45,000 in the form of a building from the late Merle S. West in 1972. That gift was used as the foundation to purchase United Way’s current facility at 136 N. Third Street.
Workplace Campaign
Approximately 65 percent of all contributions to our United Way are donated by employees at the workplace who pledge a portion of their paycheck each pay period. Please contact the United Way at 541-882-5558 for more information on how your workplace can conduct a United Way employee campaign. United Way speakers are available to speak to your staff for 5 or 10 minutes and a six minute local campaign video is also available to help tell our story.
Leadership Giving KEY Club
The United Way Leadership Giving KEY Club encourages annual gifts of $1,000 or more to the United Way. In 2020, there were 98 individuals who joined the KEY Club and contributed a total of $202,545 for an average gift of $2,066. While every gift to United Way is important and appreciated, leadership gifts are vital and represent 45% of United Way’s total campaign funds raised.
Cash and checks are always welcome.
