FUND RAISING
The United Way of the Klamath Basin 2009 annual fund raising campaigns raised $770,817 for 92% of its $840,000 goal. The 2009 annual fund drives include the United Way Community Campaign, the Klamath & Lake Counties Combined Federal Campaign, and the State of Oregon Employee Charitable Campaign. Contributions to United Way are accepted year-round and are tax-deductible. See Community Campaign link for 2009 leadership team, goals, timeline, special events, etc.The 10th annual United Way Community Golf Challenge was a big success raising more than $7,500 after expenses. Reames Golf and Country Club hosted the event for the past 10 years. Event founder and organizer is Kent Pederson of Carter Jones Collections Service. The 2010 golf challenge will be held at on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Harbor Links Golf Course. All of the net proceeds benefit United Way's 16 member agency program services.
Individuals wishing to donate gifts of stock, real estate, life insurance policies, or establish a donor restricted fund should view the Planned Giving link and call Leroy Cabral, United Way executive director at 541.882.5558. Approximately 65 percent of all contributions to our United Way are donated by employees at the workplace who pledge a portion of their paycheck each pay period. Cash and checks are always welcome. Our United Way is registered to accept stock transfers at South Valley Wealth Management. Memorial gifts to honor beloved friends and family are also accepted.

The United Way Leadership Giving KEY Club encourages annual gifts of $1,000 or more to the United Way. In 2009, there were 104 individuals who joined the KEY Club and contributed a total of $172,699. Dan and Ann Cavanaugh chaired the 2009 KEY Club. Our thanks to the Klamath Medical Service Bureau (KMSB) Foundation and the Oregon Community Foundation for granting United Way $15,000 in challenge grants for exceeding its KEY Club campaign goal of $163,286.
